How to prolong the service life of a capacitor?
The lifetime of a capacitor is generally related to voltage and temperature as well as the surrounding environment.
The most basic thing we need to do is to strictly control the operating voltage, install overcurrent protector protection, control the operating temperature, increase the inspection time, so as to effectively prevent and increase the service life of film capacitors.

Take film capacitors as an example. The service life of film capacitors can be extended by the following methods.

Method 1: Carefully control the starting voltage, and the operating voltage of the parallel capacitor must be within the allowable range. That is to say, the long-term operating voltage of the film capacitor cannot be greater than 10% of its nominal voltage value, and the operating start is too high, which will greatly shorten the service life of the capacitor. With the increase of the operating voltage, the carrier loss of the film capacitor will increase, which will increase the temperature of the capacitor and accelerate the degradation speed of the capacitor's insulation, resulting in premature aging, breakdown and damage of the capacitor's internal insulation. In addition, under the influence of excessive starting voltage, the insulating carrier inside the film capacitor will undergo local aging, so the higher the voltage, the faster the aging and the shorter the life.

Method 2: Handle abnormal operating conditions on time. If the film capacitor is found to be abnormal during operation, such as expansion, joint heating, serious oil leakage, etc., be sure to withdraw it from operation. For serious accidents such as fire and explosion, the power supply should be turned off immediately to check, and after understanding the cause of the accident and solving it, another film capacitor can be replaced to continue operation.
