What is X2 capacitor?
X2 capacitors, also known as safety capacitors as well as film capacitors, are mainly used for the L/N jumper of the power input for EMI suppression, and are used in parallel with the input port.
Note: Safety capacitors are used in such occasions that after the capacitor fails: it will not cause electric shock and will not endanger personal safety.
The advantages of X2 capacitors are as follows:
1. These capacitors are very stable, with little change over time and stability, so the input is not easily affected by environmental factors.
2. Unlike other types of ceramic capacitors, the capacitance of film capacitors is less affected by voltage.
3. Unlike most types of capacitors, film capacitors have a very low dissipation factor. This means that very little heat is generated when AC current flows through the film capacitor. The X7R capacitor converts 10% of the current flowing through it into heat, while the film capacitor’s is less than 0.1%.
