The Challenge

A fast charger manufacturer was struggling to pass surge immunity testing. The limited PCB space made it difficult to achieve both sufficient surge protection and efficient thermal management using the existing design.

After reviewing the application, JEC recommended a compact leaded NTC thermistor optimized for inrush current limiting. By optimizing the package size and lead configuration, the solution provided higher surge current capability while fitting within the available PCB space.
