For example, thermostats use thermistors to regulate temperature. In a thermostat, the thermistor continuously monitors the environment’s temperature. When the temperature drops below a set value, the thermistor’s resistance increases, triggering the heating system to provide warmth. As the temperature rises, the thermistor’s resistance decreases, and once the set temperature is reached, the system adjusts the heater’s power to balance heat input and heat loss, maintaining a stable temperature.
Thus, whether the temperature increases or decreases, thermistors play an essential role in ensuring that electronic devices operate at optimal temperatures.
